How to use

A little hiragana & katakana every day. Pick a mode, clear today's cards, keep the streak alive.

Modes

Interactive — the default and the easiest habit: one daily session that mixes all modes below in random order. Just open the app, work through it, done.
  • Swiping — see the kana, recall the reading, swipe right if you knew it, left if you didn't. The answer is revealed before each card flies off; Undo takes back a slip. Fastest mode.
  • Writing — type the romaji for the kana. Stricter than swiping: the app checks you.
  • Tracing · Train — learn stroke order: a faint outline plus an animated hint for every stroke. Practice freely — train never changes scores.
  • Tracing · Test — draw from memory with 3 lives. This is where tracing scores are earned, and the help adapts: weak kana keep their outline or even stroke hints, middling ones get a brief "remember me, then trace me!" preview, strong ones get only the romaji.

Scores

Every kana carries its own score from −5 to +5 — separately in each mode (swiping, writing, tracing). Correct = +1, miss = −1. Weak kana appear early and often; strong ones gradually drop out of your daily deck. Because the scores are per skill, reading, typing, and drawing are each their own journey — use every mode to truly own a kana.

Daily streak & reset

Finish at least one session a day and the streak grows. A "day" rolls over at the cutoff time — 3:00 at night by default — so a late session at 1 a.m. still counts for the previous day. Change the cutoff in Settings → General.

Daily amount

Each mode shows a soft daily amount of cards (Settings → Deck settings), weakest first. Finished? The summary offers to deal more. New here, that's about 20 swipes, 10 written, 5 traced — a few minutes a day.

Gestures

Swipe up (or press ↑) — settings · Swipe down (or ↓) — this guide. On the tracing canvas your finger always draws, never navigates.
